This is a list of merchants who currently do not offer their own gift card, but are known to accept the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa debit card. It is a member-driven list that grows from your feedback. Pay your monthly bill with Five Back Visa cards. There is no fee and the payments process fine with both registered and unregistered Visas.
Adams Electric Co-op (AEC) monthly bill can be paid online with multiple one-time payments. I've made up to 7 individual payments against one monthly bill. AEC is another great place to use up all those small balance Five Back Visa cards that pile up every month. It's so easy and there's no additional fee for using the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa.
NOTE: Keep good records of what cards were used for each payment. If you shred empty cards, be sure to first write down the card#, exp date, and security code in case you ever need to prove your payments.
Adams Fiber, Adams Networks, Adams Telephone
All Adams businesses that you pay through SmartHub.coop accept the Five Back Visa card.
Adams requires the name and billing address of the card so you'll need to register the Visa card first. At this point we don't know if you can use multiple small balance debit cards to pay your bill. If you find that you can, please let us know. There is no convenience fee to pay your Adams bill by debit card.
Adaptive Mobility Systems (AMS)
Adaptive Mobility Systems in Quincy accepts the Five Back Visa card.
Adaptive Mobility Systems is affiliated with Denman Medical Supply in Quincy, Illinois. Both accept the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa with no problem. However, all credit/debit cards payments have to be made through Denman Medical Supply even for AMS. AMS personnel will usually call-in the GGF Visa card information to the billing people at Denman Medical. So after your medical insurance has completed their payments, use Gene Grawe Fund Visas to pay your deductible and co-pays for wheelchair purchases and repairs, ramps, lift systems, and so on.
UPDATE: On Aug 2, 2018, I successfully paid for a $1,000 wheelchair repair with GGF Visa gift cards.
Aldi

Aldi grocery stores accept the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa with no problem.
Ameren
Pay your monthly bill with multiple Five Back Visa cards.
Ameren's monthly bill can now be paid online with one or more Gene Grawe Fund Five Back Visas without incurring any additional fees. So if your electric or gas bill has been going up, you can some of that expense back in the form of lower tuition next school year, if you pay with our Visas.
Ancestry.com
You can now pay for your Ancestry.com subscription with a GGF Visa through PayPal.
Because Ancestry.com is a subscription service, they cannot accept the Gene Grawe Fund prepaid Visa debit card directly. However, they allow PayPal as a payment option. Which means you can preload a registered Gene Grawe Fund Visa as a funding source in the Wallet of your PayPal account and then use PayPal to pay Ancestry.com.
When you are paying for your initial Ancestry.com membership, choose PayPal as your method of payment. You'll then be taken to PayPal where you will need to sign in and then you can choose the GGF Visa as your funding source.
Everyone manages their PayPal account differently so you'll need to decide how best to handle Ancestry.com renewals. When the preferred GGF Visa balance falls below what Ancestry.com is trying to bill, PayPal will tap into another of your funding sources (e.g. other credit/debit cards, checking accounts, etc.). Also, keep in mind that PayPal will always use up your PayPal account balance first before it taps into any of your backup funding sources. Remember, your PayPal balance is not GGF funds.

Pay your monthly AT&T cellular bill with Five Back Visa cards.
Your monthly AT&T bill can be paid online or in-store with GGF Five Back Visa gift cards.
UPDATE 12/14/2019: We've received feedback from someone who was unsuccessful in his attempt to use a registered Visa to pay his AT&T bill online. He is setup on AT&T's auto-pay and was wondering if that my be preventing him from manually paying the bill with a registered GGF Visa prior to the auto-pay debit date. Bluehost.com cannot accept a GGF Five Back Visa card directly. But can via PayPal.
Bluehost.com can only be paid with a registered GGF Visa if the Visa was listed as a funding source on your PayPal account.
Our communication with our own hosting provider Bluehost.com revealed that they have a blanket policy against accepting gift cards of any kind. They had experienced some gift card fraud at one time. However, they offer PayPal as one of their payment methods and that's how we pay them. Just follow these steps:
- Register a Five Back Visa card at FiveBackGift.com.
- At start of Bluehost.com shopping cart checkout choose "Change Payment Method", then choose "Use PayPal", and finally choose "Process Order".
- Login to your PayPal account when asked.
- Choose "Add a Debit or Credit Card" and then add the newly registered Visa.

This company has incredibly good customer service!
I attempted to pay for my check reorder with a Five Back Visa card, but it failed three times returning an address verification error. I then paid for my order with my own credit card. I assumed they couldn't accept it and immediately emailed their customer service my standard letter encouraging them to accept the Five Back Visa or even better, signup with ShopWithScrip.com.
Well, not more than an hour later a very helpful CS rep called me. She said a couple years ago they ran into this very same problem and what I needed to do was go to the prepaid Visa card's website and register the card with my address. She said their checkout system requires that my billing address match the billing address on file with the prepaid card. Said that should fix the problem.
Then she told me I could've used a different coupon code instead of the free shipping code worth just $5.99. So she redid my coupon codes so that I ended up with free shipping and another 10% off my order for a total savings of $9.88! Well, color me impressed!
Since I ordered 400 checks, it'll be awhile before I'll need to reorder again using a GGF Five Back Visa. So I'm asking anyone who needs to order checks to try the address thing above and let us know how it works out. You can't beat the prices at CarouselChecks.com anyway.
Finally, I suggested to her that maybe they should consider joining RaiseRight.com and have their own gift cards. She said she's already a step ahead of me as she spoke with her supervisor about it and they've already forwarded my email to their CEO for consideration.

You can use Hy-Vee brand gift cards to pay for almost everything sold at Hy-Vee. However, the $99 Hy-Vee Aisles Online Free Delivery Membership fee cannot be paid for with Hy-Vee gift cards. You must use another form of payment. We found out that the Hy-Vee website will accept the Gene Grawe Fund prepaid Visa debit card. That way you can still get tuition rewards for the payment.
UPDATE JUNE 2022: These one year memberships auto renew. So set a reminder in your calendar for about one week before the renewal date. Then add a Gene Grawe Fund Visa as the only form of payment on your online Hy-Vee account. Make sure it has at least $100 available on it. On the renewal date, Hy-Vee will charge your membership fee on the GGF Visa you provided. Worked just fine for me.

Businesses take notice! Yes, you can start or renew your Microsoft subscriptions, like Office 365, using Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa. But, you have to do it through PayPal. The payment will fail if you just add the GGF Visa as the payment method in your Microsoft Account.
Do the following about a week before your Microsoft subscription's renewal date:
1. Register a GGF Five Back Visa debit card on the FiveBackGift.com website.
2. Add that newly registered GGF Five Back Visa debit card to your PayPal.com account and make it the default payment method.
3. Login to your Microsoft account, select "Change how you pay", then set PayPal as the payment method.
4. Wait for the renewal date to come around and Microsoft will automatically process the payment.
NOTE: If you have any funds in your PayPal account (i.e. a positive balance), those funds will be used before a charge is made to the GGF Visa. So if you want the whole payment to go on the GGF Visa, you'll need to make sure your PayPal account has a $0 balance.

NETFLIX
Pay your monthly bill with a Five Back Visa.
Even though you supposedly can't use the Five Back Visa for recurring subscription style payments, your Netflix monthly bill can still be paid with Gene Grawe funds without any problem. Each month or two add a new card as your default payment method or allow for several months at a time to be charged on one card. I usually set one card aside with enough funds to cover 4 monthly payments. That way I only have to login and change the default payment method once every 4 months. Netflix deducts their payment every month just like clockwork.
To set this up do the following:
- Register a Gene Grawe Fund Visa at FiveBackGift.com.
- Using a browser login to your Netflix account.
- Go to your Netflix Account | Membership & Billing | Update Payment Info.
- Enter and save your Gene Grawe Fund Visa debit card info.
It's best to set aside a Visa explicitly for Netflix and not allow it to be used for any other purchases.
Finally, don't forget to go online and switch over to another debit card when the current one is finished. If you do forget, Netflix is great about sending you an email the instant your next payment doesn't go through.
O'Donnell's Pest Control

O'Donnell's Pest Control in Quincy happily accepts the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa with no problem. Just call or mail in the Five Back Visa debit card information.
Panera Bread
Panera Bread Co. accepts the GGF Visa.
Panera Bread has its own gift card, but you cannot put the gratuity on their store brand gift card. So we thought it was worth mentioning that when you pay your dine-in, carry-out, or delivery bill you can put the tip on a GGF Visa with no problem.
Remember, that when you use the Five Back Gift prepaid Visa debit card at Panera Bread, it will trigger a 5% promotional load (think rebate or rewards) that will be credited to your Visa's balance a few days after the purchase. Panera is one of Five Back Gift's fifty or so merchants who earn rewards for your Visa card. So don't shred those empty Visas for at least a couple months after last use. Then always check the balance before shredding.
Also, since Panera Bread rebates 8%, it's always a better deal for you to pay for your Panera gift cards online using PrestoPay, than it is to pay by cash or check at the Gene Grawe Fund office.
Finally, the Panera gift card is reloadable. So don't forget to pickup a RELOADABLE label from the Gene Grawe Fund office to stick on your Panera gift card. It's less likely to be thrown away by a cashier when it's empty.

We think we've finally figured out how to get PayPal to accept the Five Back Visa card.
If a merchant's website uses PayPal as their credit/debit card processor, then just like always, you can pay for your purchase with a Five Back Visa card without any problem.
However, the longstanding problem has always been using a GGF Five Back Visa card as a backup funding source for a PayPal account. Well, here's how you can do that:
Go to FiveBackGift.com and register a GGF Visa debit card using the same name, billing address, and phone number that you use for your PayPal account.
Next, login to your personal PayPal account, click on the Wallet tab, and then enter that Five Back Visa card as one of your backup funding sources. Doing that will allow that card to be offered as a payment option from within PayPal.

PC Pitstop, developers of the PC Matic family of software products can accept the GGF Five Back Visa card.
I just recently renewed my annual PC Matic subscription on PCPitstop.com using a Gene Grawe Fund Five Back Visa without experiencing any problems. I'd also like to mention that PC Matic has straightened out many of my computer problems over the last 12 years.

Quincy Cleaners at 30th & Maine in Quincy happily accepts the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa with no problem. Also, their drive through makes drop off and pick up super convenient.

The Quincy Herald-Whig newspaper accepts the Gene Grawe Fund Five Back Visa card.
The Quincy Herald-Whig newspaper accepts the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa debit card. However, I wasn't able to use it on their website, so it's probably best to call in your quarterly or annual subscription payment to the Circulation Dept. Since you can use the GGF Visa in the Circulation Dept. you can probably use it to pay for classified ads, commercial ad services, and anything else they offer. I've used both registered and unregistered Visas.
Quincy Medical Group
Quincy Medical Group and QuincyMedGroup.com accept the Gene Grawe Fund Five Back Visa card.
Quincy Medical Group conveniently accepts the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa card. Use a GGF Visa to pay for your medical care in-person at QMG or on their website. And remember that will include your co-pays at all of QMG's affiliated clinics. So after your medical insurance has completed their payments, use Gene Grawe Fund Visas to pay your deductible and co-pays. I recently used a GGF Visa to pay a $135 medical bill online at QuincyMedGroup.com. The payment went through just fine.
City of Quincy
The City of Quincy accepts the GGF Five Back Visa card.
We know you can pay your water bill in-person at Quincy City Hall using a GGF Five Back Visa card. However, we don't know about online. If you've paid your Quincy water bill online using the GGF Visa, please let us know by clicking on the SEND US YOUR TIPS! link below.
Also, if you've used either card to pay for anything else (e.g. construction permits, demolition permits, fence permits, sign permits, swimming pool permits, reviews, business licenses, etc.) at Quincy City Hall please let us know.
Republic Services
You can pay your quarterly trash collection bill with multiple Five Back Visa debit cards.
The Republic Services website allows you to pay your trash collection bill online with the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa and there's no convenience fee. RepublicServices.com is also one of those great websites where you can pay your bill with multiple debit card payments. So you can use up some of those leftover GGF Visas with small balances of $1.00 or more. You can use either registered or unregistered Visas.
When you're at #1 Make a Payment, it's not obvious what you're supposed to do if your payment is going to be less than the full amount. For that you need to click on Current Charges and then a box will show up allowing you to enter any amount greater than 99¢. Payments below a dollar are not allowed.
Their website saves each GGF Visa debit card that you enter and you have to give each a name, but strangely numbers are not allowed. So if you want to use the last four digits of the card number, you would name the card "four nine five zero" instead of 4950. Then a few months later when you're on their website paying your next bill, you can remove the old payment methods through the Manage Account area.
Be sure to keep the confirmation number after each payment. You will also get an email a few minutes after each payment is processed. One last thing to know. Their website doesn't update the amount due after each partial payment is processed. So you'll have to do the math yourself.

The Salvation Army Family Store accepts the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa card.

Scharff Brushes accepts the GGF Visa without a problem.
Scharff Brushes' website ArtBrush.com takes registered Five Back Visa without any problems.
Schwan's Home Delivery
You must pay using a registered GGF Visa or the card will be denied.
Give your registered Gene Grawe Fund Five Back Visa prepaid debit card to the Schwan's delivery driver who will key the card info into their mobile point of sale system. It will process fine as long as the card was registered first using your name and address.
Servicemembers' and Veterans' Group Life Insurance
Prudential's OSGLI website accepts the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa with no problem.
ATTENTION RETIRED MILITARY & VETERANS!
You can pay your SGLI or VGLI premiums using either a registered or non-registered Gene Grawe Fund Five Back Visa. If you are helping a student in the Quincy Catholic school system and you're paying your SGLI or VGLI premiums through military allotment, you might consider stopping the allotment and begin paying the premium with GGF money. The Prudential OSGLI website takes the GGF Visa as easy as can be. For me, that's another $294 a month or over $3,528 a year of GGF spending to help with my granddaughter's tuition.
All you have to do is call OSGLI and tell them to stop the allotment, wait a couple months for that to happen, then when you get your first statement begin paying your premium on the OSGLI website using a Gene Grawe Fund Visa. They even accept an unregistered Visa.
Unfortunately, since our largest Visa denomination is $500, if your monthly premium is over $500 a month, then you won't be able to do this because OSGLI will only accept one payment method that covers the entire premium. No multiple payments are allowed by phone, mail, or online.
Sleep Tight
Sleep Tight in Quincy accepts the Five Back Visa card.
Bedroom furniture store Sleep Tight in Quincy, Illinois accepts the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa with no problem. However, they do ask that you use the largest denomination cards you can get. They prefer the $250 or $500 Visas over someone showing up with a couple dozen $50 cards to pay for a $1,200 bed.
Smoothie King
Smoothie King in Quincy accepts the Five Back Visa card.
Smoothie King on east Broadway in Quincy accepts the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa with no problem. However, Smoothie King has their own brand gift cards, so they could easily become part of the Gene Grawe Fund. So whenever you patronize them you should let them know you're a Gene Grawe Fund member and then encourage them to become a Gene Grawe Fund local merchant.
State Farm Insurance
State Farm's website accepts a registered Five Back Visa from the Gene Grawe Fund without a problem.

I had been paying monthly through checking account debit for many years and State Farm was charging me a $1.00 service fee every month for doing it monthly. So I had my agent stop that about a month before my auto insurance renewed. Then I got a bill for a 6 month premium renewal and I went online and paid it in one payment since it was less than a Gene Grawe Fund $500 Visa.
My agent told me they have policyholders who phone in payments and stop in their office to pay insurance premiums using Gene Grawe Fund Visas. However, my agent said their office has to be able to pay the premium due in one payment. So if the premium you wish to pay is above $500, you'll have to pay it quarterly to keep it under $500 or split the premium payment in half and pay it online. See update below.
UPDATE 7/22/2020: Today, I went online to make my semi-annual payment and discovered that the State Farm website now allows you to split your payment in half. You can pay half now and the other half in 30-60 days. So I thought I'd test it out and paid half which went through fine. There was no second bill immediately available for me to pay the second half. I assume they will email me a bill for the other half in a week or two. I will update this note when I pay the second half.
I also read on their website that all payment fees have now been eliminated. So you can now split up to a $1,000 premium payment into two $500 half payments without incurring any extra cost.

Many times I used a GGF Five Back Visa card to make a purchase on TerraCycle's T-Cycle.com website.

They're good because they've been at it since 1996.
U.S. Cellular
Yes, you can pay your monthly U.S. Cellular phone bill with the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa. There is no fee and the payment processes fine with both registered and unregistered Visas. However, you cannot make payments of less than $5.00 and they do mean it.
Several days before your due date each month, logon to the U.S. Cellular website and make your payment using a Five Back Visa debit card. You can also make multiple smaller payments until you've paid your bill in full. U.S. Cellular's website is another one of those great places where you can use up some of your leftover, small-balance Visa debit cards. Or you could donate some of them once in a while. NOTE: If you are setup on Autopay for automatic payments, on your due date you may receive an Autopay email telling you the Autopmt failed because of zero balance. You can just disregard that email if your earlier payments were successful.
UPDATE FEB 2021: They really do mean no payments less than $5. Recently, I tried a different tactic to circumvent the $5 minimum online payment. I thought surely they can't refuse if the final balance payment is less than $5. So I made several partial payments working my balance to about $2 and it turns out their website doesn't care. I tried my GGF Visa, my State Street Bank debit card, a regular credit card, and even a debit straight from my checking account and all were refused. So I called U.S. Celullar and tried to make an automated phone payment of less than $5...and nope it wouldn't take it either. Finally, I called their customer service and the kind gentleman ran my GGF Visa and the $2 payment went through fine. Before I hung up, I promised him I wouldn't do it again.

The local Post Office in Quincy accepts the Gene Grawe Fund's Five Back Visa card when paying for postage and supplies. So does USPS.com.
I would imagine the outlying Post Offices can also.
Today, I used a registered Five Back Visa to purchase some stamps online and it went fine. I can't say what would happen if you tried to use an unregistered card. During checkout, I noticed that you can also pay via PayPal. Which means you can also pay using a GGF Visa through PayPal.
