Gift Card Fundraising for Quincy Catholic Education

The Gene Grawe Fund, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity organization founded in 2005 for the purpose of assisting families, Catholic or otherwise, with the financial costs of pursuing a private school Catholic elementary and secondary education. It does this by sponsoring a scrip sales program. “Scrip” refers to gift cards from participating retailers that have agreed to rebate a small percentage of gift card sales to the Gene Grawe Fund for later distribution as tuition assistance for students participating in the Fund.

MaryAnn & Eugene “Gene” Grawe

Beginnings: Founded in 2005 in Quincy, Illinois, the Gene Grawe Fund, Inc. is a non-profit charity started by JoAnn (Grawe) Witte to honor her father, the late Eugene “Gene” Grawe. He was a longtime officer with the Western Catholic Union who died in 2003 after a 17-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Since its humble beginnings in 2005, the Gene Grawe Fund, Inc. has grown into a well-respected local charity that has awarded over $3.98 million in Catholic school tuition assistance.
